Product Design Leadership · Regulated Fintech
I design regulated financial products people can actually understand — and the internal systems that make them work.
From mortgage origination to POS-based credit, I work where regulation, back-office operations and the customer's decision all meet — and where clarity isn't a design preference but a compliance requirement.
BCP, Interbank and BBVA Perú since 2009 — mortgage origination, SMB credit, and the internal tools that decide how fast a customer actually gets served.
Every product has two halves. Most portfolios only show one.
The half the customer sees decides whether they understand what they're signing. The half nobody sees — risk assessors, legal reviewers, commercial executives working the same case file — decides whether the promise can be kept. I design both, because a product that's clear to the customer and impossible to operate internally fails just as reliably.
How I Work
Leading Design Under Constraint
- Leading multidisciplinary design teams — UX, visual, content and QA — embedded inside product squads
- Aligning legal, risk, security, marketing and engineering around a single documented design rationale
- Co-creating with global design teams while adapting patterns to local regulation
Service and Systems Design
- Mapping end-to-end journeys that cross the organizations a company doesn't control
- Service blueprints that expose every internal role, system and handoff before any interface exists
- Back-office systems where risk, legal and commercial work on the same case file, exception paths included
Making Regulated Products Understandable
- Replacing manual, analyst-run processes with adaptive self-service flows
- Progressive disclosure under regulatory constraint, so terms are recognized in the moment rather than remembered
- Content decisions documented with their legal and usability rationale, so they stop being argued on preference
Selected Work
Three projects across seven years: a business I founded and ran end to end, a mortgage program where I led design decisions inside a technology squad, and a credit product from the three years I spent leading a design team at BBVA Perú. I left all three before the business results came in. Today I design the internal Salesforce tools used by the people who serve BCP's customers.
How I Think About the Work
The interesting decisions in a regulated product are rarely about the interface. They're about what the customer is allowed to not understand, which internal role absorbs the complexity, and what the business gives up in order to keep a promise it can actually keep.
Half of every product is used by the people who run it. That half deserves the same design as the half customers see.
